Acceptable Use Policy
1. Overview
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets forth the rules governing your use of the EventLingo platform, website, and mobile applications (collectively, the “Services”). This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of EventLingo's Terms of Service. By using our Services, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in account suspension, termination, and/or legal action.
2. Fraudulent or Misleading Event Listings
You may not use EventLingo to:
- Create event listings for events you do not intend to hold or do not have the authority to organize;
- Provide false, inaccurate, or misleading event details, including but not limited to event descriptions, dates, times, venues, performers, capacity, or amenities;
- Misrepresent the nature or purpose of an event to attract attendees under false pretenses;
- Use stock photos or images from other events without clearly labeling them as illustrative;
- Create duplicate or substantially similar event listings to artificially inflate visibility.
3. Discriminatory Conduct
EventLingo is committed to providing an inclusive platform. You may not:
- Refuse to sell tickets to or admit attendees based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or any other legally protected characteristic;
- Use EventLingo's promotional or targeting tools to exclude or target any demographic group in a discriminatory manner;
- Create events that promote hatred, violence, or discrimination against any individual or group;
- Employ discriminatory pricing practices that vary ticket prices based on protected characteristics.
4. Ticket Scalping
You may not use EventLingo to resell tickets at prices above their original face value without the express written permission of both the event organizer and EventLingo. Specifically prohibited:
- Purchasing tickets with the intent of reselling them at a markup;
- Using automated tools (bots) to purchase tickets in bulk for resale;
- Operating secondary market sales through EventLingo without authorization;
- Advertising resale tickets on EventLingo's platform or through its messaging features.
5. Fake Accounts and Reviews
You may not:
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent platform rules, evade suspensions or bans, or artificially inflate metrics;
- Create accounts using false identities or impersonate another person or entity;
- Submit fake reviews, ratings, or testimonials for events, vendors, or professionals;
- Solicit or purchase fake reviews, follows, or engagement metrics;
- Use automated tools to generate accounts, follows, or interactions.
6. Harassment, Threats, and Abuse
EventLingo has zero tolerance for harassment, threats, or abusive behavior. You may not:
- Threaten, harass, intimidate, stalk, or bully any user or EventLingo staff member;
- Send threatening, abusive, or hateful messages through EventLingo's messaging system;
- Publish or share another person's private information (doxxing) without their consent;
- Engage in coordinated campaigns to target, disparage, or harass specific individuals or groups;
- Use EventLingo to facilitate real-world stalking, harassment, or physical harm.
7. Spam and Unsolicited Messages
You may not:
- Send bulk unsolicited messages to users through EventLingo's messaging features;
- Use EventLingo's notification or messaging systems to promote products or services unrelated to events on the platform;
- Harvest or collect user contact information (email addresses, phone numbers) from the platform for unsolicited marketing;
- Post repetitive or irrelevant content designed to attract attention rather than provide genuine value.
8. Circumventing Security Measures
You may not:
- Attempt to access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of the platform, its computer systems, or the technical delivery systems of EventLingo's providers;
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any EventLingo system or network;
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security-related features of the platform, including row-level security policies, authentication mechanisms, or rate-limiting controls;
- Use automated tools, scripts, bots, scrapers, or crawlers to access the platform without express written permission;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the platform.
9. Illegal Activities
You may not use EventLingo to organize, promote, or facilitate any illegal activity, including but not limited to:
- Events involving the sale or distribution of illegal substances;
- Unlicensed gambling or gaming operations;
- Events that violate local capacity, noise, or safety ordinances;
- Money laundering or other financial crimes;
- Human trafficking or exploitation;
- Events designed to facilitate the commission of any criminal offense.
10. MLM and Pyramid Schemes
You may not use EventLingo to recruit participants for multi-level marketing (MLM) programs, pyramid schemes, or similar business opportunity schemes. This includes:
- Creating events that are primarily designed to recruit participants into MLM or network marketing organizations;
- Disguising recruitment events as educational seminars, networking events, or social gatherings;
- Using EventLingo's messaging system to solicit users for MLM or pyramid scheme participation.
11. Sexually Explicit Content
You may not post sexually explicit content on EventLingo, including but not limited to:
- Pornographic images, videos, or descriptions in event listings or profile content;
- Event listings for events primarily featuring sexually explicit entertainment (unless the event is lawful and clearly labeled as such, with appropriate age restrictions);
- Unsolicited sexually explicit messages sent through the platform's messaging features.
12. Additional Prohibited Conduct
You also may not:
- Interfere with or disrupt the platform or servers or networks connected to the platform;
- Forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers to disguise the origin of any content;
- Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code;
- Collect or store personal data about other users without their express consent;
- Use the platform in any manner that could disable, overburden, or impair it.
13. Enforcement and Consequences
EventLingo reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate action against any user who violates this Acceptable Use Policy, in EventLingo's sole discretion. Consequences for violations may include:
- Warning: For first-time or minor violations, we may issue a written warning and request corrective action.
- Content removal: We may remove or disable access to any content that violates this policy.
- Account suspension: We may temporarily suspend your account pending investigation or as a sanction for policy violations.
- Account termination: For serious or repeated violations, we may permanently terminate your account and ban you from the platform.
- Legal action: We may pursue civil or criminal legal action where appropriate, including seeking injunctive relief, damages, or other remedies.
- Law enforcement referral: We may report illegal activity to appropriate law enforcement agencies, including providing user information as required or permitted by law.
14. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it immediately by contacting us at legal@eventlingo.com. You may also use the in-app reporting features to flag content or users that violate this policy. All reports are reviewed by our Trust & Safety team.
