Cookie Policy
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used to make websites work efficiently, provide information to website operators, and improve the user experience. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies EventLingo uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.
2. Essential Cookies
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the operation of our platform. These cookies cannot be disabled without affecting core functionality. We use essential cookies for:
- Authentication: Maintaining your login session so you do not need to re-authenticate on every page. This includes session tokens issued by Supabase Auth.
- Security: Preventing cross-site request forgery (CSRF), detecting unauthorized access attempts, and protecting against fraudulent activity.
- Session management: Remembering items in your cart during the checkout process, preserving your place in multi-step forms, and maintaining the state of interactive features.
Essential cookies are session-based or have a limited lifespan tied to your authenticated session. They do not track you across other websites.
3. Functional Cookies
Functional cookies enhance your experience by remembering your preferences and settings. These cookies are not strictly necessary but allow us to provide a more personalized experience. Functional cookies are used for:
- Preferences: Remembering your language preference, location settings, and notification preferences.
- Display settings: Storing your preferred view mode, map or list display preferences, and other UI customizations.
- Cookie consent: Remembering your cookie consent choices so we do not ask you repeatedly.
Functional cookies typically persist for up to 12 months. You can disable these cookies through your browser settings, but some platform features may not function as intended.
4. Attribution Cookies
EventLingo uses attribution cookies to track referrals and commissions for our friend-share and influencer programs. These cookies are important to understand:
- Friend share link tracking: When you click a friend's share link to an event, a cookie is set to attribute your ticket purchase to the person who shared the link. This enables the referring user to receive any applicable rewards or credits.
- Influencer commission tracking: When you arrive at EventLingo through an influencer's promotional link, a cookie is set to attribute your purchase to that influencer for commission purposes.
- Attribution window: Attribution cookies expire after 24 hours. If you do not complete a purchase within 24 hours of clicking a referral or influencer link, the attribution will not apply.
- Full disclosure: EventLingo discloses the use of attribution cookies. These cookies do not track your browsing activity across other websites. They only record the relationship between a referral link click and a subsequent purchase on our platform.
5. Third-Party Advertising Cookies
EventLingo does NOT use third-party advertising cookies. We do not serve ads on our platform, and we do not allow third-party advertising networks to place cookies on your device through our Services. We do not participate in cross-site tracking for advertising purposes.
6. How to Control Cookies
You have several options for controlling how cookies are used on EventLingo:
6.1 Our Consent Banner
When you first visit EventLingo, you will see a cookie consent banner that allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in the footer of any page.
6.2 Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically set your browser to block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or alert you when a cookie is being set. Please note that blocking essential cookies may prevent you from using core features of EventLingo, including logging in and purchasing tickets.
For instructions on managing cookies in popular browsers, please visit the help or support pages for your specific browser.
6.3 Mobile Devices
Mobile devices may provide settings to limit ad tracking or clear cookies. Consult your device's documentation for specific instructions on managing cookies and tracking on mobile.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
