Refund Policy
1. Overview
This Refund Policy governs all ticket purchases made through the EventLingo platform. By purchasing a ticket on EventLingo, you acknowledge and agree to the terms set forth in this policy. EventLingo acts as a ticketing platform and is not the organizer of any event. Each event organizer sets their own refund policy for the base ticket price, which is displayed at checkout prior to your purchase.
2. Platform Fees (Non-Refundable)
The platform service fee, currently set at 12% of the base ticket price, is non-refundable under all circumstances. This fee covers the cost of providing the EventLingo platform, including payment processing infrastructure, event discovery, customer support, and platform maintenance. The platform service fee is clearly disclosed at checkout before you complete your purchase.
This non-refundable policy applies regardless of the reason for the refund, including event cancellation, voluntary withdrawal by the attendee, or refund protection claims.
3. Ticketing Fee (Non-Refundable)
A fixed ticketing fee of $1.98 per ticket is charged on all paid ticket purchases. This fee is non-refundable under all circumstances. The ticketing fee is allocated as follows: $0.98 to EventLingo for ticketing infrastructure and $1.00 as a post-event survey credit (subject to survey completion and validation).
4. Base Ticket Price Refunds
Refund eligibility for the base ticket price (the face value of the ticket, excluding platform and ticketing fees) is determined by the refund policy set by the event organizer. Each organizer's refund policy is displayed on the event page and at checkout prior to purchase. Organizer refund policies may include:
- No refunds: The organizer does not offer refunds for any reason.
- Refunds until a specified date: Refunds are available up to a deadline set by the organizer (e.g., 48 hours before the event).
- Full refund anytime: The organizer offers refunds at any time before the event starts.
To request a refund of the base ticket price, contact the event organizer directly through the EventLingo platform or submit a support request at support@eventlingo.com. EventLingo will facilitate communication between you and the organizer but does not guarantee approval of any refund request.
5. Refund Protection
EventLingo offers Refund Protection on eligible ticket purchases. Refund Protection provides the following coverage:
- Scope of coverage: Refund Protection covers the base ticket price only. Platform fees and ticketing fees are excluded and remain non-refundable.
- Request deadline: Refund Protection requests must be submitted by 11:59 PM (Pacific Time) on the day the event ends. Late requests will not be honored.
- Check-in restriction: If your ticket has been scanned and you have been checked in to the event, your Refund Protection claim will be automatically denied. Check-in records are verified through our QR code scanning system.
- Processing: Approved Refund Protection claims are processed within 5–10 business days and refunded to the original payment method.
6. Event Cancellation by Organizer
If an event is cancelled by the organizer, EventLingo will process a full refund of the base ticket price to all ticket holders. This refund is processed automatically within 5–10 business days and returned to the original payment method. Platform service fees and ticketing fees remain non-refundable, even in the case of event cancellation.
EventLingo will notify affected ticket holders of the cancellation via email, SMS, and/or push notification. If the organizer reschedules the event rather than cancelling, tickets remain valid for the new date unless you request a refund within the timeframe communicated in the rescheduling notice.
7. Chargeback Policy
If you initiate a chargeback (dispute) with your bank or credit card issuer rather than requesting a refund through EventLingo, we will submit evidence to contest the chargeback. Evidence submitted may include:
- Complete purchase records, including order confirmation and receipt;
- Check-in data demonstrating event attendance;
- The IP address used at the time of purchase;
- Device information associated with the purchase;
- The event organizer's refund policy as displayed at checkout;
- Communication records related to refund requests;
- Evidence that the purchased service was delivered as described.
We strongly encourage you to contact us at support@eventlingo.com before initiating a chargeback, as we can often resolve issues more quickly through our support process. Excessive or fraudulent chargebacks may result in account suspension or termination.
8. Processing Time
All approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days from the date of approval. Refunds are returned to the original payment method used at the time of purchase. Please note that your bank or credit card issuer may take additional time to reflect the refund in your account statement.
